Sony has announced that its VidZone service, which will stream music videos directly to the PS3, will be out this summer. Think YouTube... but for PS3. According to Sony, the service is, "Backed by several Major record labels as well as thousands of Independent labels".
(We're waiting to get the list...)
Sony's promise for the free service, which was first announced
way back in Leipzig last year, is that, "VidZone will be bringing thousands of music videos and live concert videos, as well as behind the scenes, interview and making of footage, to your TV when it launches on PS3 this summer."
Users can fast forward and rewind the videos, as well as set up playlists - you can even get them ready from your PSP if you fancy it.
To get it, all you'll need to do is download it from the PlayStation Store and then launch it from your XMB.
As well as being the name of a PS3 service VidZone is, if you weren't aware, the name of the company supplying the content. It calls itself a "music video brand, a digital music distributor and cross-platform service."
It also sounds like the name of educational programming aimed at making maths seem cool to children from the 1980s...
