Zombie Studios - makers of
Shrapnel - is joining forces with Fox. Yes, the same Fox organisation that employs experts such as
Cooper Lawrence to opine on filthy sex in video games.
Zombie will be producing a multi-platform "covert military action epic set twenty-five years in the future" on behalf of Fox Atomic, which in its turn is part of Fox Filmed Entertainment, and Union Entertainment.
"Both the film and the video game will be written by Jason Dean Hall, a veteran writer whose latest film,
Spread, sold at Sundance to Summit. He is also writing projects for Dreamworks and Universal", we are told.
Fox Atomic, it says, "is a culturally branded entertainment company producing theatrical movies and digital content targeting the 17-24 year old demographic."
But this it means movies such as
The Hills Have Eyes 2,
Goth,
28 Weeks and
28 Months later (yes, we know). Last year Fox Atomic handed some of its output to Fox Searchlight Pictures and closed down its own marketing division.
Looks like video games might be the way to the hearts, minds and wallets of those 17-24 year olds then, because
Brad Cutter Ruined My Life certainly wasn't.
