Magnus Ling, Executive Vice President at SimBin Studios AB has just issued a release to us that reads in a threatening and litigious manner. He is quoted as stating:
"SimBin is taking legal advice and considering to also take legal actions against Slightly Mad Studios,
as a result of certain statements made by Slightly Mad Studios that we find to be incorrect, misleading and has a negative impact on our reputation as well as business negotiations.
"These potential actions are a result of Slightly Mad Studios and EA’s announcement of a
cooperation where SimBin games are referred to by Slightly Mad Studios in a misleading way."
Right. The only collaboration that has been mentioned between Slightly Mad Studios and Electronic Arts concerns the recent
Need for Speed reboot news.
The
release information for this contained statements including,"Slightly Mad Studios includes developers and designers that worked on the critically acclaimed games
GT Legends and
GTR 2."
Both of those titles were, of course, developed by Simbin. It would, of course, be less than healthy for Simbin's business of potential clients were to believe that some of its key developers were now working for another studio.
