No Mass Effect II for PS3?

Sequel coming early next year

No Mass Effect II for PS3?
It has emerged from EA that Mass Effect II may not be console-exclusive to the Xbox 360, though EA is remaining elusive on the subject.

In an third quarter earnings call the company's CEO, John Riccitiello, said that in quarter four of 2010 (January-March next year, if you don't speak financial), "BioWare will release Mass Effect II on multiple platforms".

Multiple platforms may just mean Xbox 360 and PC, as with the last game, of course. Indeed, this seems to be supported by some input from respected games journo N'gai Croal via Twitter - "EA PR not confirming Mass Effect 2 for PS3, only 360 and PC."

We all know, of course, that not confirming something is a long way from denying it in the language of PR.

Still, with Microsoft not being involved in the publishing of the second game (as it was in the 360 version of the first game, having gotten involved prior to EA's purchase of BioWare) there's no apparent reason for keeping it off the PS3...

It would not make sense to make ME2 for the PS3, the first game ties in with the trilogy and PS3 owners would be playing a game without any clue on what the story was about. Also from what I remember the sequels would carry on from the first i.e. whatever your actions in the first game carry over to the next.

That hasn't stopped 'em bringing far cry 2 to PS3, from what I hear Mass Effect wasn't as great as it claimed to be

Yes but FarCry 2 does not lead on from the previous game.

ME was not great it was ok, a lot of the things that were really cool and awesome that the devs showed in vids etc was all taken out and left with a mediocre version. Also there was a lot of stuttering in the frame rate.

I don't know, I'd like to have Mass Effect 2 on the PS3, considering the Xbox in my house isn't mine. Remember, Shenmue II was released on the Xbox and to make up for lost storyline, they bunged a DVD with a movie featuring all the events of Shenmue I. It wouldn't be absurd to consider a Blu-Ray with major plot scenes/recap of Mass Effect 1 in a PS2 ME2 package.

Mass Effect doesn't work the same way, as the game plays depending how you play it and what your actions are, the first game what if you was evil? Unless the developers make further changes in theory from what they originally said the follow on games would carry on from the first so I would guess that my character carries over to the second game as is if you get my meaning therefore a disc would not be a true represenative of what happened in the first.
Although the ending would be in some cases the same which ever way you played it its still a game and the first one does need to be played to get a better understanding.

Interesting is though that it was does with Shenmue II.

All we can do is wait and see what is announced I guess.
