Both
The Daily Mirror and
The Daily Telegraph have decided to 'break the news' that Microsoft is 'facing' a £550 million repair bill for Xbox 360s. Well, the
Mirror actually writes, "Computer giants (sic) Microsoft are (sic) facing a £500million repair bill after their Xbox Elite consoles were hit by the notorious "red ring of death".
The Telegraph, however, makes no mention of 'Elite', stating instead that the problem is with "Xbox 360s". It then, rather confusingly states, "The red ring of death is not the first to affect the hugely-popular consoles and their programmes."
We looked and looked and thought, "Hold on this is very reminiscent of a story we ran on July 6th
2007 - that story was called '
Microsoft 's $1.15 BILLION Red Face Of Debt'.
On the off-chance that the researchers at the
Mirror and
Telegraph have something new - and didn't just see a wire story dated July 6th (but missed
2007) we've contacted Microsoft for new info.
