Treyarch is Developing for Next Call of Duty
For you, Inglische, the war is not over - nor for you Americanische or you Australianishe or you Japanische! That's because according to the latest official Xbox magazine dead-tree thingie, Treyarch is already hard at work on...

Call of Duty: World at War. Unlike the ITV series from the 1970s, it won't be voiced by Sir Lord Larry of Olivier (we would expect the Duke of Branagh or Princess Keanu of Reeves). Notice the lack of '5' in the name - franchise action ahoy!

The main point to note right now is that the developer will be COD 3 Treyarch and away from Infinity Ward, which recently finished DLC maps for best-selling shooter, COD 4.

In terms of available detail: it's back to WWII with aspects of the Pacific Theatre (or Theater because the American's fought a lot of that) but also features the flithy Red Army menace, whoops, our glorious Soviet Allies as they were then - descending on Berlin like David Bowie and Iggy Pop in search of a hit, if you know what we mean.

There will also be four-player co-op via Xbox LIVE.

Of game-play, Treyarch's Mark Lamir says "This is a scarier Call of Duty than we've ever seen". We're not sure how much more scary than being shelled and grenaded and shot-at it can be... maybe there are zombies!

No, there are Japanese troops who carry out suicide attacks from trees. We're not certain of the historical validity of that... but it's certainly bloody scary.
