Microsoft Stops HD-DVD Player - Shocker
In a shocking disclosure of deep shock that has caused shock and horror to resonate throughout... oh, who are we trying to kid? Microsoft has formally announced that it's not selling HD-DVD drives (based on the Toshiba model) any more.

"As a result of recent decisions made by Toshiba, Hollywood studios, and retailers, Microsoft plans to withdraw from HD DVD. Xbox will no longer manufacture new HD DVD players for the Xbox 360, but we will continue to provide standard product and warranty support for all Xbox 360 HD DVD Players in the market."

News of a forthcoming Blu-ray add-on drive for the Xbox 360 remains very similar to news of online multi-player for GTA IV for Xbox 360 only - vaporous, speculative old tosh.

I'm shocked.

Shocked it's taken MS this long to issue this statement. What was it waiting for? A retraction from Toshiba?

Yeah, they did seem to take their time. But I doubt that Microsoft would offer a Blu-ray drive this Gen, simply because I doubt they'll want to come out with another movie player add-on.

Though it's obvious they'll use it as standard Next-Gen.
