Gran Turismo 5 Prologue: Rumble Yes but Why?

The force returns

Posted by Staff
SPOnG's man in Japan has reported back on Sony's upcoming (if you don't live in the land of the rising sun) racing taster - Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. You'll find the full review of the Japanese version up later this very Christmas Eve-ter-noon.

One area he touches on is the long-awaited return of Rumble as DualShock 3, telling us, "...the rumble-free Gran Turismo HD Concept demo can now be forgotten about. Playing GT without some kind of force feedback is like driving an auto – it’s morally wrong."

Music to our Europe-bound staffers' ears indeed. Japanese gamers will get their first taste of the game's online features tomorrow. We'll turn you back over to SPOnG san for the info: "The online features of the game are due to arrive via a PSN update on Christmas Day, which is impeccable timing. There will be 16-player online races which, assuming there’s no major lag, could potentially reinvent Gran Turismo and begin to shift the series’ focus away from the depth of its single-player game."

Surely "SPOnGu-san" would be more appropriate?

Sorry Sony, but until GT has proper ai and damage models, I'll be voting out of this game, like I have since every GT game past the premier title. I don't care how many swish cars its got.

I can't believe besides all that, Sony/Polyphony refuse to check out what the competition are doing, and take some hints as to what's actually wrong with GT. Forza and Codemasters Toca are already laps ahead, where GT once led. What a shame.
