Buzz! Quiz TV for PS3 - Make Your Own Quizzes Online

It’s Buzz! In high def. And online.

Okay, it's time for a PS3 game announcement, following the earlier news about PS3 becoming a personal video recorder and the PSP becoming, in addition to a mugger-magnet, a SatNav device, a personal videophone and a portable television.

The game announced by Sony today is not going to please the hardcore, since it's the next step forward in SCEE's much-touted 'casual' gaming franchise, with Buzz!: Quiz TV (pictured here) on PS3 building on the game that "transforms your home into a TV game show studio" in order to transform the "whole world [into] a quiz show."

Hang on! Didn't' we have a nightmare along similar lines about exactly this situation occurring recently? Has Sony somehow been recording our nightmares!

Whatever, Sony tells us that "If previous Buzz! titles have been individual gameshows, this is a whole TV network. Buzz!: Quiz TV gives you instant access to almost any subject you can think of, and will be supported by vast downloadable and user-generated content. If there was ever a time to pick up Buzz!'s famous quiz show buzzer controllers, this is it."

Buzz!: Quiz TV launches next March on Blu-ray with 'a whopping 5000 questions' divided into five channels with something for every quiz fanatic to choose from: The Music Channel; The Movies and TV Channel; The Sports Channel; The Knowledge Channel; and The Lifestyle Channel.

As you would expect (nay, demand) the game is also set to feature plenty of downloadable content, regular quiz packs will be made available on the PlayStation Store with "many specific to individual countries or even towns - just imagine playing a quiz on your local football team, for example."

Finally, the opportunity to to play the game online and even write and share your own quizzes via the MyBuzz community site is the juicy cherry on the online casual gaming quiz cake.

Right now, SPOnG is off to our local pub quiz to get drunk with real people in a real public space!

Very Web 2.0 (or should that now be Game 2.0 or something?).

I'm sure it won't mean this'll be the last necessary hard-copy release of Buzz (much like Singstar as DLC can pretty much support it forever now) but we can hope I guess.
