Play.com PS3 With Extras for £399.99
If you are going to buy a PlayStation 3 this weekend, then SPOnG can only advise that you buy one at bargain-bucket price of £399.99 from WH Smith, or, even better, from Play.com – as the online retailer has also slashed the price of the PS3 to £399.99.

Not only that, Play.com is now selling the console with an extra HDMI cable and a Blu-Ray film – the instantly forgettable Adam Sandler-flick Click.

WH Smith began selling the system for £399.99 as part of an Easter promotion, advertised in today's Sun newspaper, as we reported earlier.

The High Street chain took out an advert in The Sun newspaper to promote the offer. You can see Play.com’s offer online now.

Maybe if this discounting continues week-on-week I might be able to afford a PS3 in a few months ;).

This really doesn't square with Chartrack's sales figures and Sony's allocation numbers.

At the same time, Play.com are offering this bundle and this bundle for the 360. Two bundles at the same price, one with an extra game? Someone's screw is loose over there!

Play seems to want to get rid of some stock. In Belgium you have a ty chain who does the same thing, cutting games (even very good ones) who are merely a few months old to the price of 10 euro's or lower.

Oh dear, Sony should be very worried. Like they aren't losing enough money already.

When sales dip by a huge wacking 80 or so percent, things might be going pearshaped somewhere. Promotion for Easter perhaps, or something more.

something more i say.

i think a lot of people are counting sony out far to early, the console needs time and a few more killer apps to convince the public it is worth the price tag.

i think sony are experiencing the main disadvantage of having the most powerful machine on the market, however in a few years they probably will experience the advantage of it.unless nintendo and ms build up a big enuf fan base, which might limit sony's sale figures.

But sony have to get some huge games out there,EXCLUSIVES MGS isnt enuf!!!!!!!!

The PS3 is big, especially after the slimline PS2, but I'm getting used to it now. The 360 is bigger than the PS3 when you take account of the power brick though.

If you have the room, stand it upright. I've done that with mine and it catches less dust and even runs more quietly due to the heat escaping more easily.
