Industry journal,
MCV, reports that UK supermarket chain, Asda, will be selling a limited number of PlayStation 2s for an astounding £50 from 7:30am tomorrow (February 21st) via its 316 national shops.
MCV was told the following by an Asda staff member, "Yes, we will be selling PS2s for 50 quid tomorrow morning. But I'd get here as early as you can if I were you. We're expecting a massive response once word gets out – and we've only got a certain number available."
In the lead-up to the
PlayStation 3 launch, this news follows Xbox 360 price cuts from both Play.com (£150) and Amazon (£189.99).
Whether in fact Asda's decision is simply to get more customers through its doors and some executive has deciced that the PS2 is 'cool' or it's to clear its decks for PS3s is as yet unconfirmed.
