What it must be like to live in an area where Google supplies free wi-fi. What it must be like to have a big, ugly car, an Xbox 360 and some absurdly ceeky (cool'n'geeky) pals. What it must be like to be Jake Ludington, his mate Brandon Wirtz and his roomy, Rose.

Why? Well, because these chaps have access to free, hi-speed wi-fi in Mountain View (California), they've managed to get Brandon's "Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with a 23-inch Samsung HDTV and an Xbox connected to Google WiFi via my laptop, ala my Xbox 360 wireless.

"Everything was powered by two inverters. The laptop we used for the Internet connection ran off of battery power, although we could have easily powered it from an intverter as well. The whole thing, including laptop, Xbox 360, Xbox 360 camera, HDTV and intverters would likely cost around $4,000 to setup."

And then they connected to Xbox Live...

The only real downside we can see here is the Jeep - if they'd done the same thing in a Prius, it would have gained top SPOnG points.

Some people have so much time on their hands. Fair play to them though, sounds like a cool idea.

The age of the mobile home console continues. Is it as easy to remove from the jeep though? And what happens when the jeep goes offroad? Does the wifi lag increase or cut out altogether?
