Is Motorstorm the first must-have killer-app for PlayStation 3?
Official US and European websites launched
Motorstorm is shaping up to be one of the must-have Euro launch titles for the PlayStation 3. How do we know, well, a lucky few here at SPOnG have actually put in some proper time with the preview version of this off-road racing monster of a game.
If you need to have a quick sneaky glimpse at why this is the case then you might want to pop over to the just-launched official UK Motorstorm website which should whet your appetite.
The site features plenty of new videos, screens, details for the vehicles and courses, wallpapers, and a behind the scenes feature.
While Motorstorm has taken some flack in Japan, due to the lack of online play (and let's not even mention E3 2005 where the PlayStation 3 trailers turned out to be pure pre-rendered footage!). SPOnG hopes (and indeed, prays) that the full PAL version of the game will feature a fully developed online multiplayer element. We should be getting a play test on the online version of the game early in 2007 so we will be sure to be the first to report back on that.
Providing that is in place, and it really has to be, Motorstorm is shaping up to be that rare and beautiful thing that every console needs at launch. A true, must-have killer-app.

There was a feature on Evolution in last month's Develop magazine that showed stills from the E3 video against stills from the actual game. They held up quite well, slightly better in places.
This is a game I'm really looking forward to at the moment, it just looks like so much fun.

and it wasn't even a case of "turned out". Unlike the killzone vid, evo always stated that it was a "pre viz" render.
funnily, the ingame looks as good as the render, but the squeeling sony haters don't seem to make so much noise about that
