Among five PS3 bundles listed on its website, UK generalist retailer, Littlewoods is listing a 60Gb PlayStation 3 bundled with
Motorstorm for £549.
With HMV declaring on its site: “Although no UK price has been set yet, it is EXPECTED to retail at around £350 (20GB) and £425 (60GB)”, this means that Littlewoods' copy of
Motorstorm comes in at an astonishing £124.
This is even more astonishing when you see that a single copy of
Motorstorm listed on the same site is £55; as is
Resistance: Fall of Man,
Call of Duty 3,
FIFA 2007,
Pimp My Ride,
Sonic the Hedgehog,
Tony Hawks Project 8 - all of which are included as part of various other Littlewoods' bundles.
The only other game bundled,
Rainbow Six: Vegas, is only listed as a PSP game on the site.
The bundles offered by Littlewoods are:
PS3 60Gb hard drive console plus
Motorstorm = £549.00 (you pay £124 for one game)
PS3 60Gb hard drive console plus
Resistance: Fall of Man and
Call of Duty 3 = £609.00 (that's £92 per game).
PS3 60Gb hard drive console plus
Motorstorm and
FIFA 2007 = £639.00 (each game costs £107)
PS3 60Gb hard drive console plus
Resistance: Fall of Man,
Pimp My Ride and
Rainbow Six: Vegas = £659.00 (each game costs £78)
PS3 60Gb hard drive console plus
Genji 2,
Motorstorm,
Sonic the Hedgehog and
Tony Hawks Project 8 = £699.00 (each game costs £68.50)
So, if you're going to buy from Littlewoods, we'd suggest buying a stand-alone PS3 and then your games; except no stand-alone is listed.
SPOnG has contacted Littlewoods and Sony this morning for further comment. So far, Sony's PR has returned our calls with the following email:
"We're not prepared to comment on 3rd party retail promotions, however, we'd like to reinforce that until the official price, release date and software line-up is announced by SCEE, all dates, prices & details etc. are purely speculative."
