Sakaguchi and friends do a mini Hara-kiri as Square posts first ever loss
Three of SquareSoft’s top executives have resigned today following the announcement that the games giant is about to post its first ever loss. The three were named as President Tomoyuki Takechi, Vice President and Final Fantasy guru Hironobu Sakaguchi and Chief Executive Officer, Masashi Hiramatsu.

The resignations will lead to new positions being allocated to all three men, the most significant of which is the reassignment of Hironobu, the man widely tipped to head up Square at some point in the not too distant future. He will now take up the role of Executive Producer, a considerable comedown in title. It is, however, expected that the three men will continue to guide the good ship SquareSoft as they have done in the past. The resignations are a direct result of the loss posting, which will show that SquareSoft made a loss and should appease the shareholders and investors who will, for the first time ever, receive no dividend.
