Microsoft has announced that the Xbox 360-exclusive Ninety-Nine Nights will hit US retail in August; August 15, according to EB Games.
This highly anticipated collaboration between Q Entertainment's Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Rez, Lumines, Meteos) and Phantagram's SangYoun Lee (Kingdom Under Fire) is a fantasy action game where you control one of seven playable warriors on massive battlefields, in the tried-and-tested, 'bound to appeal to Japanese gamers' tradition of the Dynasty Warriors and the Kingdom Under Fire series.
As the press release describes: “In a struggle between light and dark, a new world order is established after the destruction of the mysterious power stone.” Warriors are destined to battle in a place far beyond their imagination, as a magnificent story unfolds from multiple perspectives.
In the game you basically have to decide upon the good or evil path in the struggle for the Stone of Union. Each of the seven different characters has his or her dedicated plotline that intertwines with the larger story.
With the combined brains and talent of Q Entertainment’s Mizuguchi and Phantagram’s SangYoun Lee, this really is a major title for Microsoft in their ongoing attempt to crack Japan. We’ll keep you posted on new Ninety-Nine Nights assets as we get them.
