Stars! Supernova

Empire Interactive announces a turn-based tale of interstellar conflict and futuristic house building.

In an astonishing development this week, astronomers from the Mare Crisium company in Oregon, together with scientists from Empire Interactive’s space research wing, have confirmed the existence of a whole new galaxy outside our own. Rejecting the name ‘Galaxy 16BZ-36’, they have instead dubbed it Stars! Supernova, and research is continuing to ascertain whether this new discovery is capable of supporting a deep, epic-styled, turn-based empire-builder that can be played by up to 16 players.

While a full retail probe will reach Stars! Supernova in mid 2000, initial findings suggest that the new galaxy is home to a number of new races, each one hell-bent on colonising its stars and planets to create sprawling galactic empires. Starting with little more than an orbiting space station and the abandoned technology of a mysterious ‘lost civilisation’, the many races in Stars! Supernova race to build up huge star fleets, bustling colonies and a library of information. It seems that these alien destinies are guided by an all-powerful Emperors, who control the growth of their kingdoms by juggling budgets and finances to form daring battle plans, to trade with stronger rival empires and to invade the weak ones.

Closer examination using high-powered radio telescopes has also revealed a number of exciting features that make Stars! Supernova unlike any phenomenon that mankind has encountered before. Lavish graphics and illustration bring its turn-based strategy to bright and vivid life, while its research/fight/expand basics are complemented by diplomatic options that allow races to spy on each other, forge alliances and run futuristic trade caravans between worlds. New technologies can be researched by empire’s scientists, shipyards can produce vessels to any design, plus there are also sweeping space battles to be fought, planets to be invaded and pirates to scupper. Uniquely, Stars! Supernova not only offers 16-player Internet and LAN multiplayer options (with a variety of victory conditions and team-play options), but single players may even be able to pit their wits against AI-controlled races that actually learn as a game evolves.
