UK Charts: Strong PS2 Rides Crest as GTA Holds off MOH

It’s not very interesting. But it is quiet…

Ah, it’s Tuesday and the charts are in. A week after half-term in the UK, and it’s piping hot outside. Even the most Dairy Lea Dunker-fuelled spherechild must surely be setting aside his Xbox and Turkey Twizzler combo in favour of frolicking in the hazy warmth of June.

Which makes this week’s charts, freshly received at SPOnG, not all that interesting really. Shame. Anyway, here goes.

Software sales on all platforms fell away in week-on-week comparisons except those for PlayStation 2, which saw a healthy 20% hike this week. The top spot however was retained by Rockstar’s re-promotion of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with the Xbox and PC versions selling well. The PS2 SKU also got a kick, no doubt buoyed by the heavy advertising the game has seen of late.

The two big new entries this week were Batman Begins, the film-tie-in from Electronic Arts which reached a healthy number six released for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and Game Boy Advance, and Medal of Honor: European Assault (PS2, XB, GC) which hit number two.
