Games sell well, PlayStation 2 figures stretched?

Europe gobbles 150 million PS2 games – 25 million printed for Christmas

Posted by Staff
Sony DADC Europe has declared that a staggering 150 million PlayStation discs have been pressed at the firm’s production plant in Austria, an incredible amount indeed.

The Salzburg facility is also working on getting an amazing 25 million games printed up in time for this year’s Christmas rush, an awesome figure indeed.

However, these figures have raised eyebrows in certain sectors, for the following, perfectly understandable reasons.

In the PAL region, which comprises Europe and the Australasian region, 16.9 million PlayStation 2 hardware sets have been sold. This works out to an attatch-rate of almost nine games per machine, an incredible achievement if true…

More as it breaks.
