It's been five years since the release of Metal Gear Solid 4. Surely that's enough time to see a release on the Xbox 360? Don't bet on it - Hideo Kojima has explained that it's not an issue with timed exclusives, more an issue with disc capacity. In his
online radio show, the producer said that there won't be an Xbox 360 version of the
Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection, which includes
Metal Gear Solid 4. Kojima isn't against the idea, he explained, but
MGS4 is just too damn big for DVDs.
The radio show's co-host explains that porting the game over onto Microsoft's console would require around seven Xbox DVDs, compared to one 50GB Blu-ray disc. It really does sound like Kojima Productions used up most of the space on the PS3 media.
Kojima did suggest that a
Legacy Collection release could hit the next Xbox, however. Microsoft's next-generation console is rumoured to use Blu-ray discs.
The currently PS3-exclusive
Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection includes
Metal Gear,
Metal Gear 2,
Metal Gear Solid, HD versions of
MGS2,
MGS3 and
Peace Walker,
MGS4 Trophy Edition, the
Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, and a bunch of
Metal Gear digital graphic novels.
Kojima also confirmed that
plans for a Zone of the Enders sequel have now been scrapped.
