Having bought Gakai, Sony now has some more competition in the jolly old cloud gaming race. It has some big competition. It has to contend with Google, which is building OnLive into its TV sets.
Onlive will be delivered via a partnership with a company called Marvell it will be delivering gaming via the box. Marvell itself says of the deal:
"OnLive is using the (Marvell) ARMADAŽ 1500 HD Media SoC to power on-demand gaming in Google TVs and Google TV devices."
It continues, "the OnLiveŽ Game Service is now integrated with next-generation Google TVs and stream players that offer video games on demand with just a few clicks of the OnLive Wireless Controller or any Google TV-compatible controller, eliminating the need for users to own an independent game console."
