NPD: Xbox 360 Storms Ahead in July
According to sales data produced by NPD for the month of July, Microsoft's Xbox 360 has outsold its competitors to become the top selling console in the US for the month and the first time it has taken the top spot since September 2007.

Combined PC and video game industry resulted in a 4% increase in revenue over the same period last year. In terms of software sales, NCAA Football 11was the top-selling game for July with 692,000 units in total sold and Starcraft II which shifted 721,000 units in the month of July.

Anita Frazier of NPD had this to add on July's figures:

“The Xbox 360 1600 point card was the best-selling accessory SKU for the fifth consecutive month. The general success of the Points and Subscriptions cards category within Accessories points to the activity that is happening in the industry outside the traditional retail channel.”
