Television turns our kids into Zombies

This is why we love subtle games marketing... Torrie Dorrell prefers that her daughter, seven-year-old Sierra, avoids TV (well, other than "family movies that bring us together" and shows like Animal Planet. Awesome. Torrie herself goes raiding with her EverQuest II guild most nights; Awesome.

Why does she dislike Sierra watching TV? "I clearly see the benefits of video games over say, watching television (with my kids). I see how Sierra imitates sassy, disrespectful behavior (sic) after watching certain television shows under respected, parent-approved banners like Disney. I also see how she works hard to solve puzzles, complete tasks and strategize with friends in games like Free Realms and Nancy Drew."

Yeah! You can't even trust parent-approved corporations like Disney! They make your off-spring sassy, unlike say, Free Realms the Sony Online Entertainment game... from the same stable as Everquest II in fact.

Frankly, says Torrie, making sure to use her daughter as a symbol, "If it’s a choice between television and gaming, I will steer my daughter toward gaming almost every time, because I know she will be an active participant, using her mind, rather than planted on the couch in a zombie state."

Yup, too much telly will turn Sierra into a sassy, disrespectful zombie! Unlike, say, playing Free Realms. Did we mention that Torrie is "an executive for Sony Online Entertainment?"

Lord knows what she'd be exclusively telling shillsite, SheKnows if she was in marketing for Smith & Wesson. "If it's a choice between video gaming and shooting the shit out of gophers in the outside world with the Model 627 .38 Super 8-Shot, I know which one is least likely to turn my daughter into a brain-sucking dead-walking demon... and it's not the Model 627 .38 Super 8-Shot."
