Sony Computer Entertainment in the USA (SCEA to its friends) is "streamlining our PSP hardware lineup (sic)". Streamlining sounds really cool. It makes it sound as if the line-up is becoming even more sleek and efficient at flying through the air.
This is what the company's director of hardware marketing, John Koller, says in detail:
"Based on ongoing discussions with our retail partners and the feedback they have received from their customers, SCEA has seen significant interest in the
Ratchet & Clank Size Matters PSP Entertainment Pack in North America, which includes the updated PSP-3000.
"As a result, we will be streamlining our PSP hardware lineup and will no longer be offering the previously announced 4GB Memory PSP Entertainment Pack."
Hold on, "no longer offering"? So, this is streamlining in the same way as, for example, you might 'streamline' your partner by yelling, "Oi, you're chucked!" across the street?
What SCEA offers to the memory hungry is the opportunity to "purchase a 4GB PSP Memory Stick PRO Duo, which will be available this fall for $44.99."
Phew, that at least is not the Memory Stick Pro Duo that was
mashed by the recent firmware update.
