Creative, the worldwide leader in digital entertainment products for the personal computer and the Internet, can announce that on 20th January 2004 its Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB and PC Cam 880 will boldly go where no product has gone before. Accompanying intrepid rowers John Peck and Fraser Dodds in a record-breaking attempt to row across the Atlantic in the 2004 Ocean Rowing Event, the Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB will keep spirits high during their estimated ten week journey, while the PC Cam 880 will ensure that their maritime adventures are fully recorded and documented.
“Unpredictable weather conditions and potentially dangerous sharks and whales could rattle our confidence on the 3000 mile trip,” stated challenger John Peck, who, at the age of 58, is set to be the oldest European to have ever rowed across the Atlantic.
“Creative’s Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB is the perfect all-round entertainment system to keep us sane during what is set to be an exhilarating yet tough record-breaking challenge. With its massive storage capacity and large battery life, Creative’s Zen Xtra 60GB will be a life-saver when times are tough and music is needed to soothe our nerves or to boost our morale,” continued Peck. “And with the versatile PC Cam 880 on hand to capture all the action, Creative has ensured that neither we nor our followers miss any of the action!”
John Moseley, Creative Labs' UK marketing manager, explained; “We are confident that our products can withstand the extreme weather conditions of the Atlantic Ocean. Built to the highest standards, the Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB is able to hold a total of 16,000 songs in MP3 or WMA. So assuming that the rowers actually manage to catch a few hours sleep during their ten weeks at sea, they will not have to listen to the same song twice!”
The PC-CAM 880 is the perfect solution for recording in-action shots whilst battling the Atlantic waves. Creative’s PC-CAM 880 will allow Atlantic rowers John Peck and Fraser Dodds to capture their adventures in stills or video clips.
The Atlantic challenge is part of an overall Ocean Rowing Event, which is the first ocean rowing regatta to be open to double and solo crews. Weather permitting, the regatta will start on 20th January 2004 from San Sebastian, La Gomera in the Canary Islands, finishing in Port St Charles, Barbados some weeks later.
