London, March 2000 - Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is pleased to unveil Destruction Derby Raw the long-awaited new smash ‘em up sequel to the phenomenally successful Destruction Derby series which to date has sold over 2 million units.

Boasting a multitude of exciting new modes and a completely new engine, Destruction Derby Raw encompasses advanced graphics, collisions and AI to offer the most complete wreckin’ racing experience ever seen on the PlayStation.

The all important crash, bash, smash and burn elements of its predecessors are amplified by the inclusion of a new 3D collision system providing spectacular realistic spins, flips and rolls. The new car track interaction system also allows cars to smash into tyre walls, barrels, cones and all manner of debris.

Players can select and upgrade from a wide variety of cars then completely wreck their vehicle! Every part of the car is deformable, it can suffer panel loss, oil leaks, fire and smoke damage and even flat tyres, each smash realistically affecting the performance and handling of the vehicle.

The various new modes offer even more excitement as players destroy their opponents by knocking them off a skyscraper or ‘passing the bomb’. With car smashes named after vicious wrestling moves, 25 single player and 6 multi-player tracks offering the only 4 player action outside of karting products, Destruction Derby Raw is the ultimate car carnage experience.

Chris Deering, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is thrilled to comment on Destruction Derby Raw “the products emerging from our internal studios are of an increasingly impressive standard, we are pleased to be promoting such a strong title developed by Pysgnosis and Studio 33”.
