It's time to enter a new Century with new hardware, new techniques and a fresh approach to the tasks ahead. It is 2150AD and the Federation have unveiled the new Wipeout F9000 league. The new generation of anti-gravity race-craft, display the speed and subtlety with unprecedented levels of manouevrabiliy – the original craft had just 7 parameters that defined the crafts' handling – the new craft have 48! They are also capable of true anti-gravity manoeuvres, able to race on upside down track, or at any angle the player chooses.

To make the sport more appealing to fans, the Federation has selected a wide range of racing venues, each with its own new interactive features, some with freeform areas that don't limit pilots to just following the track. It is no longer a simple race on a track. Pilots have more decisions to make in a race, more things to interact with, and more enhanced weapon systems.

WIPEOUT FUSION - takes the game a massive step forward, not only with the new greater power of the PlayStation 2, but with the addition of completely new gameplay features, tracks, ships, weapons and game modes. Additionally, taking note of the feedback the team has received from the earlier WIPEOUT games, the game has been specifically designed to make it more accessible to the occasional gamer, whilst keeping the elements that appealed to the traditional 'hardcore' player.

Key Features

New physics system for the ships – they feel and look more realistic and they are now true anti-gravity ships – they can race on upside down track – in fact any angle of track.

Computer pilots now drive their ships rather than follow a pre-set route around the track.

Customisable ships – there are 32 individual ships to choose from.

Super weapons - special weapons can be unlocked by answering a series of challenges. Each racing team offers a licence to use their super weapon.

Multiplayer weapons – specifically designed weapons for multiplayer fun like the Turbo Enforcer.

The original Wipeout had pilot characters, but their presence had no real tie with the gameplay. We’ve brought them back and now they are intrinsic to the gameplay. All the computer ships have identities. They have their own personalities and skills on the track.

There’s much more to do and find out about on the tracks and there are lots of freeform areas where you aren’t limited to ‘track’.

New gravity flip pads instantly flip your ship 180 degrees to race on a piece of track directly above it.

Massive racing environments – there are 7 huge racing environments, each with 3 courses.

Realistic damage to ships – parts break off the ships, they smoke, catch on fire, get charred from explosions and you really have to use the pit lane now because damage effects your ship’s handling and performance!

A new side-shift control helps you to evade weapon attacks and learn new racing tactics.

There are 2 completely new one-player modes.

Technical

Approximately 150,000 polygons per track.

Runs 60fps NTSC and 50 fps PAL

Supports Dual Shock 2 with rumble and pressure sensitive buttons

Fully memory card facility.

Special memory management and compression techniques have allowed the whole game and menu system to be set in ram continually. This means the players will hardly notice any loading times.
