Settlers fans the world over can start looking forward to some fascinating new characters and a whole host of additions to Blue Byte’s saga starring those industrious little settlers. In July (Germany) and September (rest of Europe) a mission pack is set to hit the stores, with an add-on pack following in November (all Europe). Both will follow the hugely successful SETTLERS IV, which was launched in Europe earlier this year. The fourth episode in the series was a critically acclaimed and a massive hit - in German-speaking countries alone, there were no less than 300,000 copies waiting to be snapped up!
The Mission Pack will give gamers the opportunity for first time to create their own maps for THE SETTLERS IV. To this end, Blue Byte is providing settlers fans with a random generator, which creates single and multiplayer maps, and also an editor which allows players to set their creative skills to work on producing the Settlers world of their dreams. All maps will be assigned an identification number to ensure that maps produced at random can be played over and over again. Another first for Settlers series, is a function that allows players to control the speed of the game, adjusting it so that they are no longer restricted to moving the game by one minute at a time.
All in all, fans of the series can look forward to five brand-new campaigns with around 50 missions to tackle. One campaign focuses on a reunion with the dastardly Dark Tribe, while two other campaigns give players a chance either to really get their teeth into combat, or to concentrate on the sheer pleasure of settling for its own sake. An additional highlight is provided by a campaign based on real-life events. And although players can rest assured that clear and detailed mission briefings will leave them in no doubt as to the task in hand, they should also be prepared for the unexpected in the shape of unpredictable scenarios and some other juicy surprises.
The Add-on pack is coming up end of the year with a new tribe called The Trojans. These fellows are experienced in mechanical and technical matters, so fans can look forwards to meeting a bunch of ‘technologically advanced’ settlers!
The story behind the add-on fits perfectly into the Settlers saga and integrates familiar episodes of Greek mythology.
