February 23rd 2000: Havas Interactive today announces that Ground Control, the incredibly fast-paced and visually stunning real-time tactics game being
developed by Swedish-based Massive Entertainment, will be published on the Sierra label later this year.

Ground Control places the emphasis on action and combat to create an unparalleled gaming experience. In addition to the frenetic single-player experience, Ground Control offers both classic and innovative multi-player options. These multi-player elements are played out through a variety of
missions where players discover that the art of battle is the key to success. Players must effectively manage tactical squads of foot soldiers, mobile units, aircraft and support units as they vie for control of a distant planet.

Ground Control is set in the year 2419 after a devastating Third World War. Two competing political factions have emerged as the leading forces in the move to
colonise alien worlds, the Crayven Corporation and the Order of the New Dawn. The race is on to harness newly-discovered alien technology - a theme that
becomes integral to the plot of the game and will influence your tactics
throughout.

"Massive Entertainment has moved away from the traditional RTS game to create a new experience in 3D gaming - Real-Time Tactics - with the emphasis squarely on action and combat, not on resource management," says George Georgiou, Product Manager for Havas Interactive UK. "The nod towards first-person shooters is also clear - there are, for example, deathmatch and capture the flag elements in Ground Control that are going to ensure Massive Entertainment is at the forefront of creating a new gameplay genre."

The pre-launch campaign is already gaining momentum. Ground Control has already been enthusiastically received by the specialist media in the UK - "Ground
Control seems as though it could be worth the wait," says PC Zone, whilst PC Gamer proclaims, "It has a graphics engine to die for". PC Gaming World says "Ground Control promises to bring the simple visceral thrills of the shooter to a more strategy-centric audience". It is also generating excitement among those gamers who have seen the stunning Ground Control trailer included with SWAT 3.
