Ubi Soft is releasing the fantastic epic action game Rayman 2 for Sega's Dreamcast.
Following the No. 1 success of Rayman 2 on Nintendo 64 and PC CD-Rom, Ubi Soft is now releasing the fantastic epic action game Rayman 2 for Sega's Dreamcast. Rayman 2 - Dreamcast is a ground-breaking, modified version designed for the powerful 128-bit console. Due for nationwide release on March 24th, the game is already being tipped to be a Dreamcast chart topper. This undeniably addictive sequel to the original 2D side-scrolling platformer has ingeniously made the transition into a 3D superhero for the 21st century.
For those already familiar with Rayman 2, the Dreamcast version propels the game to a new level of state-of-the-art non-stop action, thrills and downright hilarious spills. Voted 1999 platformer of the year (Gamespot), Dreamcast owners can now experience the sheer quality of fast-paced, varied gameplay that is the core of Rayman 2. Graphically, the Dreamcast version, takes a significant step forward, displaying stunning and luscious visuals that give the game the humour, instant appeal, believability and the quality of an action-packed animated movie.
Utilising technologies unique to the super-powered Dreamcast, Rayman 2 now offers many additional features. The graphics have been ingeniously enhanced by adding higher resolution textures. Extra in-game detail and atmosphere is provided by new characters and enemies; fantastic Dolby Surround sound; added special effects; re-worked menus and cinematic sequences. What's more, the game now runs 60 frames per second to guarantee faster, smoother play.
The game kicks off when a horde of ruthless space pirates, led by the scheming Captain Razorbeard, invade Rayman's peaceful world and enslave the population in a vast impenetrable fortress-like ship. Rayman miraculously escapes, and with the help of his trusty aid Globox, he sets out to free his people from the evil pirates. Ultimately, Rayman must battle several huge bosses, free his friends to regain all his super-hero powers, reclaim the world's scattered energy (split into 1,001 lums), defeat the pirates, as well as restore peace to the world!
As well as dozens of noticeable enhancements, Rayman 2 for Dreamcast also features an entirely new world - Globox Village. Unlocked by finding an extra 6 crystals in the game, Globox Village contains 4 new levels: an exclusive multiplayer option, an exclusive downloadable level via the Internet and 2 new cool bonus levels. Globox Village is inhabited by over 20 new characters including the charismatic blue Baby Globoxes.
Fans of Rayman will be delighted to be able share their excitement, with the first multiplayer option in any Rayman game. The Rayman 2 multiplayer sub game enables up to 4 players to play each other simultaneously. Gamers race frantically around a rotating, circular maze to pick up magic lums in their backpacks. The idea is to return to the homebase, all lums intact, avoiding being snacked on by a killer tomato or the numerous & hilarious hindrances along the way!
