The Binding of Isaac is an awesome independent title from Edmund McMillen. You should remember Edmund from Super Meat Boy and from his charismatic performance/appearance in Indie Game the Movie. It's done really well.
Frankly, we spend a deal of time here pissing off large publishers and decrying the lack of imagination in the current stock of game makers: rehashes, reboots, old ideas in new clothes, million dollar budgets resulting in $1 experiences, cynical cash-ins, dull, imaginationless fighting games, shooting games, driving and sporting games... so it's great to be able to come over all idealistic and look at Ed's achievement.
He told NorthLion over on Youtube that, the game has sold more than 2MILLION copies on PC and Playstation. Enormous.
MCV reports that, "The indie dev added that Isaac’s success has given him the opportunity to work on an updated remake, entitled The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. Instead of Flash, Rebirth will utilize a new engine to optimize the experience and allow for more things to happen on the screen concurrently. It will also add a large content expansion and two-player co-op."
Issac is coming in the form the non-Flash The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth to PC, PS3, and Vita in October. Grab the original on Steam here.
