SEGA has once again caught the ire of a legion of Sonic the Hedgehog fans - this time, by not doing anything.A
fansite called out representatives of the company for being "trolls," accusing the company of lying about a promised showing of
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II at NVIDIA's Consumer Electronics Show press conference last night.
The publisher was set to introduce the next instalment of its episodic downloadable platformer as one of the first to be enhanced with NVIDIA's Tegra 3 processor. For whatever reason, that didn't happen. A selection of games were showcased, but
Sonic 4: Episode II was not among them.
It seems that SEGA simply fell foul to an organisational mishap. Representatives explained that NVIDIA chose to "switch up" the talking points of its conference to focus more on Tegra 3's integration in cars and Windows 8 tablets.
A logo for
Sonic 4: Episode II was later released, but it was not enough to satiate fans, with the owner of the fan blog alleging that, "it appears [the logo] was the only
Sonic 4: Episode 2 related material slated for tonight, and if that’s the case, you can’t really blame NVIDIA for pushing them out [of the conference]."
Fans of SEGA hating SEGA. It really is as bizarre as it sounds.
