The manager at Hal Laboratory, Takashi Ikegami, has explained that the idea for Kirby's Epic Yarn could be used with other Nintendo characters, mainly Mario.
Ikegami, who worked in the sound department for Kirby's latest outing, relayed his reaction on first seeing Kirby's Epic Yarn in motion. He was speaking in the latest Iwata Asks - where the president of Nintendo sits down with developers on some of Nintendo's first-party titles.
He explained that he saw the potential in taking the game's style and applying it to other famed Nintendo characters, creating something like Mario's Epic Yarn, for example.
Ikegami also expressed his envy over having not thought up of the idea of Kirby's Epic Yarn first, explaining that the emotion followed his initial joy for such a creative project.

I would be interested in a real Mario RPG follow up to 1000 Year Door, make that from yarn if you want ninty just give me a real Paper Mazza Game for Wii or even 3DS!
