SEGA Master System Hits Quarter Century Today
Eponymous plumber Mario is not the only one to enjoy his 25th anniversary this year as one SEGA's own classic consoles, the Sega Master System, is also 25 years old this year.

The console, originally named the SEGA Mark III, first saw release in Japan on October 20th, 1985. Releases of the machine in the US, European and Australian markets followed over the next couple of years.

The machine was also the birthplace of titles and characters such as Alex Kidd, Outrun, Phantasy Star and Sonic, the latter still doing the rounds today.

Might be worth pulling one out of your cupboard to ignite the retro gamer inside you.
