Half-Life 2 Motion Tracking Video Shows Kinect Hope
Think that Kinect won't amount to anything when it comes to 'core' games and first person shooters? Take a look at this video below, which shows a coder fiddling with a mod for Half Life 2 that takes advantage of similar motion-tracking technology.

The idea is that moving the Xbox 360 control pad can be tracked by the camera, and those motions are represented in-game as camera movement. In essence, it throws away the necessity for the second analogue stick in terms of FPS navigation.

See what you think, and tell us if you think Kinect could do something similar in the forums below.

Looks more like PlayStation Move to me! In fact it actually puts forward the case for motion controllers (Wii, Move) rather than controller free (Kinect) gaming.

I don't think the point lies in arguing one method over another, and then getting annoyed at the manufacturer for borrowing or overlapping methods. I personally believe the kinect has (/had) greater potential than the move or wii but there are no guarantees (I think that a controller assisted kinect would have been great as it would have capabilities beyond what the other 2 can offer;) BUT = I still will be purchasing a playstation (I have a 360 at the moment) and move as it is ALREADY a solid system and I don't like unnecessary gambles with money (outside poker tournaments.)
