While the government thinks that targeting uni students is the way to address a skills shortage in the UK games industry, EA thinks the best approach is to start them young.

The publisher got involved in Shine Week, a national festival aimed at celebrating talent in youngsters, by providing a masterclass in game development by way of Boom Blox.

Devs from the game were flown from LA to Pall Mall to show kids from Berger Primary School, Hackney, and Lady Margaret School, Parson’s Green what it's like to be a games developer. The kids were set to work on creating their own levels for the Spielberg-designed game using its editing tools.

Siôn Simon from the Government's Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and 'upcoming urban music artist' Master Shortie were also on hand to provide advice on breaking into the creative industries.
