Yoshi's Woolly World is a game that seems almost as though it's engineered to make you happy. From its bright, woollen aesthetic down to the cheerful music, the game has a tactile aesthetic that it's difficult not to be charmed by.
The game begins on Craft Island in the middle of the Handmade Sea. Everything is just as idyllic as you'd expect for such a place and the Yoshi clan are enjoying life there. Right up until Kamek turns up and starts turning all the dinosaurs into yarn. Fortunately, Yoshi escapes and sets to putting things right.
The game takes the form of a classic Nintendo side-scrolling platformer. Well, more or less. Unlike most platformers (with certain exceptions - Kirby's Epic Yarn, we're looking at you) Yoshi's Woolly World has a vibrant world made entirely of fabric. So, while levels have the bright, imaginative level design you'd expect from a Nintendo platformer, the textured world offers new twists on many of Yoshi's classic abilities. So he can still gobble up enemies, do flutter jumps or lob projectiles (though it's yarn balls, not eggs!), but now he has some additional tricks such as knitting new platforms or unravelling so he can create new forms such as motorbikes, aeroplanes and moles!
Those wanting something a bit different can team up with a family member or friend in cooperative multiplayer, try the relaxed mellow mode or even have a more traditional experience with Classic Mode. All that, and amiibo support to boot!
Experience the world of Yoshi in an entirely new way in Yoshi's Woolly World!
