Summary

After five Tony Hawk titles for the Game Boy Advance and a further three sequels for the Nintendo DS, developer Vicarious Visions has finally decided to take a break from the franchise. Taking over is Boston-based Creat Studios, and with Tony Hawk's Motion it delivers a bit of a departure from the familiar Tony Hawk style.

The biggest difference comes in the form of a peripheral that ships with the game - an accelerometer that plugs into the bottom of the handheld. This brings (as the title hints) motion control into play. DS owners will control their character by tilting the DS, bringing a whole new dynamic to the series.

Also new is the addition of snowboarding to the mix. As well as hitting the urban jungle, players will be able to take to the slopes on a much bigger board. Similarly, players will find the set-up different to previous games. The open worlds of past titles have been replaced by tighter, more focused challenges such as Rail Hopper and Slalom.

If all that's not enough to keep you entertained, you might want to check out Hue Pixel Painter. It has absolutely nothing to do with Tony Hawk, but everything to do with the peripheral. Using its motion sensitivity, players have to connect pools of paint to bring colour to a barren landscape.
