Summary

The Simpsons is an international treasure, no messing. For those who like their animated comedy with a hefty dose of sarcasm, satire and plain ol' daftness, well, The Simpsons has been doing it best for longest. The good news for gamers and fans of the show is that the family from 742 Evergreen Terrace finally gets the game it deserves in the shape of…aww, I've forgotten the title. D'oh!

The Simpsons Game! That's it! The DS version is an ambitious side-scrolling affair that centres on a Springfield-based hub, and includes 12 unique episodes and something like 2000 lines of dialogue. That's a lot of funny as, reassuringly enough, the writers of the show and the movie have also done the script for the game. Homer can wreak havoc and destruction by turning into a wrecking bowling ball version of himself, and the stylus and touchscreen come into play with puzzles for Marge and Lisa to solve. The game is brimful of unlockable features and minigames. There's even a Pet Homer to nurture and care for: suffice to say this feature of The Simpsons Game is not a million miles away from Pokemon. You'll see one or two (or maybe more) references to the things you love or hate in The Simpsons Game. The show's writers have always liked to have a tilt at popular culture, and this game is no exception. It's full of the trademark humour that gets folks of all ages laughing out loud, and for that reason alone, is well worth a look.
