Summary

Ever heard of a mission-based scooter game? No, neither have we - until now. In what has to be a first for the video games industry, Crave has developed Whirl Tour, probably the first scooter adventure ever.

Assuming the role of Flipside band roadie Wasa B, our unwitting protagonist must rescue his friends and band members after they are kidnapped in the middle of a concert and uncover the mystery of the crime.

The manic scooter mayhem, which spans eight colourfully rendered and interactive levels including a castle, theme park and a movie set, has players utilising all manner of gas, electric and rocket powered scooters to navigate each stage. Throughout the game, the player has the option to hunt down various collectibles that include CD-style icons, giving players the ability to add music tracks to an in-game jukebox and customise their playlists.

But there's more to Whirl Tour than listening to a few CDs. Trick skills and puzzle-solving are key aspects of the game as players must battle and defeat crazy boss characters by pulling off a variety of challenging tricks. Performing well and fulfilling certain criteria rewards players with hidden bonus areas, bonus game levels, secret mini-games, new scooters, and you might even discover the whereabouts of one of your band members. As the band members are rescued, they become playable characters and will introduce new tricks to the player's arsenal.

Whirl Tour is a respectable if strange game, that successfully incorporates two distinct game styles into a single adventure.
