Summary
With the tenth anniversary of the original Lost Vikings on the horizon, and coupled with numerous requests from the public, Blizzard Entertainment deemed it appropriate to remake the classic 16-bit platformer for the Game Boy Advance. And here it is, in all its original glory, faithfully recreated for Nintendo's pocket console.
As the game's story has it, it's merely another cool day of Nordic seafaring and pillaging for the three main characters Erik the Swift, Baelog the Fierce and Olaf the Stout, when all of a sudden they find themselves sucked into an alien spaceship. To make matters worse, in their attempts to escape from the rather sticky situation, they soon discover that each door they pass through throws them into a different era in time and brings them face-to-face with a host of grisly enemies.
Employing the skills of the three unique Viking characters, you must use them co-operatively to solve puzzles, defeat the enemies and navigate your treacherous voyage back home.
There are plenty of hours worth of action to be had within, as you make your way across over 35 levels, solving hundreds of mind-bending puzzles. Along the way you visit a variety of different worlds, including such destinations as Prehistoria, Egypt, The Great Factory and Wacky World.
Key to success in the game, it is imperative that you master the abilities of the powerful runner Erik, the burly defender Olaf and the unyielding swordsman Baleog, using each of their unique strengths for either their offensive, defensive or strategic properties.
It's far from uncommon to see an old 16-bit title making its way on to the GBA, but some games are definitely worthy of such a re-release. Lost Vikings is one of them. << less
