'Right on - it's summertime!' reads the blurb. Well it seems that it's rarely summertime over here. So now might be a good a time as any to escape the lame British weather and check out THQ's latest Nickelodeon spin-off, Rocket Power: Beach Bandits.

As the story goes, all the cool kids from Ocean Shores are looking forward to the best summer yet and, even more so, to the Annual Ocean Shores Surf Contest. But as Otto, Reggie, Twister and Sam finally reach the beach they make a startling discovery - most of the sand is missing and the surf contest has been postponed. So it's duly up to the young Rocket Power chaps to get to the bottom of the mystery and figure out exactly who's stealing the sand from the Ocean Shores beach.

Cast into the 3D platform world of Rocket Power, players take control of any one of the show's protagonists as they explore their way through four areas, including Ocean Shores, The Lakes, The Robot Factory and Mondo Mountain. 50 levels feature throughout, each offering extreme action gameplay styles as well as the usual array of extreme sports that fans of the show will be accustomed to.

Two multiplayer games can be unlocked along the way and the disc also comes bundled with a few extra features, such as two Rocket Power TV episodes and a trailer for the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants game. So, what we have here is an overall crowd-pleaser for the Nickelodeon generation.
