UFC: Throwdown - PS2
Also known as: 'Ultimate Fighting Championship: Throwdown'Summary
Banned in dozens of countries for its extreme violence and sheer brutality, the Ultimate Fighting Championship isn't the most accessible program on the air. But, thanks to Crave and Ubi Soft, gamers can have a go themselves with UFC: Throwdown for PlayStation 2.

Those who, for some reason, refuse to buy a sports title without official names can relish the fact that Throwdown comes complete with 25 real life fighters including the current 2002 champion Tito Ortiz and newcomer BJ Penn. But official names and licenses don't compensate for bad gameplay. Fortunately, Throwdown doesn't have this problem. It's great fun.
So, you've chosen your fighter and you're ready to enter the daunting eight-sided ring of death. What do you do? Well, it's a bit less technical that boxing and wrestling - our advice is... attack! Then attack some more. Once you win the match, you can move onto another.
If you're looking or something a little more in-depth, you can begin a career mode. Here, you will build a new fighter from scratch and are free to customise a variety of physical features such as the face, body, skin colour, clothes and hair. Once you're happy with the aesthetic side of things, get fighting. It's that simple. As harsh as it sounds, the 'ground-and-pound' tactic is often the most effective means of destroying your opponent.
There's also a whole load of alternative game options that include championships, 8-player tournaments and a variety of weight class matches. That pretty much sums up how the UFC works. It doesn't get much more realistic than this. << less
