Summary

Hoyle tabletop games for PC have been enjoyed by many, so why not continue the trend? Now under the Vivendi umbrella, but still developed in-house by Sierra, Hoyle Card Games gets a release for Power Macintosh.

This time around, Sierra has brought us a whole series of some of the world’s best and most favoured card games. These games include Bridge, Canasta, Crazy Eights, Gin Rummy, Go Fish, Poker and good old Solitaire.

To give the game a little personality, Sierra has included several 'get-to-like' characters that include an alien from Mars, a talking Dinosaur, and a sassy businesswoman who's as English as they come. But if that’s not good enough for you, you can also create your own characters and customise them to a high level. You can even have a bald girl with a moustache if the mood takes you.

But players should be aware that, regardless of the game you’re playing, the opposition will be unforgiving and frustrating at times. However, beating such challenging opponents is highly satisfying.

If you don’t feel up to the challenge in single-player mode, you can always bring a friend in to participate in the fun.

As far as tabletop-turned-PC card games are concerned, Hoyle excels itself. There’s no more complete game than this.
