The release of Worms back in the early to mid-nineties sent many PC owners wild about little pink wriggly animals. However, the game seemed to be holding one major flaw; the lack of a third dimension. Hogs of War, developed by Infogrames, takes the addictive gameplay of Worms, and converts it into the third dimension. A dimension consisting of hostile, military pigs.

Featuring the voice of Rik Mayall as the sergeant pig of the group, it is best advised that you take on his training mission to allow you to get to grips with control methods and strategies of the game. Since you are located in a 3D world, aim and direction is of critical importance when using grenades, rifles, and other offensive amenities. Your ultimate goal, should you choose to accept it, is to succeed against your arch-rivals in as many as 25 pig-packed missions. Once complete, you are given access to a random field generator, similar to that in Worms, whereby you will never have to challenge the same environment again, helping to randomise the outcome of the battle a little. This is particularly helpful when challenging human opponents, whether it be your friends, or some unknown stranger over the Internet.

While some may view this as a Worms rip-off, Infogrames have managed to improve on what is already a well-executed idea. << less
