Summary
It's really a surprise that Tomb Raider didn't provoke an avalanche of copycat games, in the same way Doom did before it. But it didn't.
Blue Stinger is a "Me Tomb" game. A small amount of shoot/beat em up action is interspersed with oodles of exploring and puzzling. It's a mix that can work wonders, appealing to those too action orientated for traditional adventure/RPG games, but a little more cerebral than the average shoot 'em up freak. Blue Stinger doesn't quite get the mix spot on though... The action is just too slow, the puzzles not quite interesting enough. When your character gets damaged, he limps around like a lame duck, as if to indicate this, but still fights like Superman on amphetamines. The graphics are appealing enough, but largely due to the Dreamcast raw power rather than the skills of the developers.
Dedicated fans of the genre will find something of interest here, but not enough to enthrall.
