Summary
The first game in Team17's classic Alien Breed series was a fairly straightforward 'Gauntlet' clone which established the company's reputation for high standards of gameplay.
Set in the distant future, on an alien planet, Alien Breed borrows all of its storyline from Alien movie, and all of its gameplay from Gauntlet arcade game. But as was typical for Team17 at the time, the gameplay is polished 'til it shines. Great graphics, for a multi-way scrolling viewed from above game, are combined with six levels of shoot em up action. You take the roll of space marine Johnson, and battle your way through a deserted space research centre that has been over-run by very, very unfriendly aliens. Use the terminals dotted around the base to access better weapons, and first aid power ups, and keep blasting 'til it's all over...
