Last week's announcement that Fable was to lose its multiplayer elements was devastating news for fans of the RPG, scheduled for release later this year. The development team for the massively anticipated Xbox exclusive has declared that, working to current deadlines, there was no way to get the code into an acceptable finished state.

"Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we will not be including the multiplayer feature in Fable," said the team. "There simply isn’t enough time to polish it to the standard we feel would be required to match that of the rest of the game. Instead we have decided to focus our resources on fine-tuning the single-player experience to ensure it is of the highest possible quality."

Other gems confirmed include the banning of pets, the ability to become a property tycoon, the ability to while away the hours fishing and much, much more.
