Capcom confirms it will work across all 3 next-gen platforms

Industry stalwarts take all-inclusive approach for next-gen

Posted by Staff
The head of Capcom’s corporate strategy division, Kazuhiko Abe, has made the pleasing announcement to Bloomberg that the Japanese industry stalwarts will be approaching the next generation of consoles with an admirably large plate. A fully inclusive strategy will see Capcom developing games for the Sony PS3, the Xbox 2 (or Xenon) and also the mysterious Nintendo ‘Revolution’.

Capcom has been a cornerstone third party publisher throughout the history of video gaming, and this strategy should see the continued success of the company behind favourites like Street Fighter 2, Resident Evil, MegaMan and Viewtiful Joe. It is not yet known if Capcom will choose to create platform-exclusive titles (like Resident Evil 4 for the Gamecube or Devil May Cry for PS2) and no light has yet been shed on what games Capcom might have lined up for the next-gen.

In other Capcom news, a teaser website has just been opened to hype up the announcement of a brand new game at TGS tomorrow. We’ll be watching closely, and will report what is going on as soon as it’s announced.

What would the industry be without the beloved CAPCOM? Im 1 of thier biggest fans and i have to say they've never gone a foot wrong. Most of thier games are smashing even going back a few years since the SNES days. They've established themselves so much you cant help and just admire them as a thirdparty publisher. As the next gen war is on the brink, lets all hope that its still shows it neutrality with all. I luv u CAPCOM!!! :¬ )

I second that Ryo. They are force to be reckoned with, and like Sega prefer to tread neutral ground and give all consoles some of their lovely games.

Many of their games have given me countless hour of fun, and I expect that will continue with stuff like RE4, VJ2 and Monster Hunter on the way.

I just hope TGS sheds more light on Killer 7, which news has gone a little quiet on.

3rd-party publisher in "will publish games" shocker!

I would think that any 3rd party publisher that does not say it will publish for all formats is not thinking straight.

I agree totally. Capcom do however show slight favourtism to Nintendo, probably just through good relationship though. RE4 and Killer7 will be fantastic titles and im looking forward to seeing what they can produce on future consoles.
