Retro Plug-and-play craze explodes

Space Invaders and Tetris join C64 and Megadrive

Radica's drive to revive old-school gaming is continuing to gather pace, with the company today releasing the first images of its Tetris and Space Invaders Arcade Legends plug-and-play controllers. When SPOnG first revealed pictures of Radica's Sega Megadrive Arcade Legends unit we were rightly impressed, and these new mini-consoles seem equally enticing.

The Tetris unit comes with two specially designed controllers containing several variants of the classic Russian puzzler: Tetris, Battle Tetris, Garbage, Timed and Hotline.

The Space Invaders machine is a single arcade stick type controller, packed with retro joy in the form of Space Invaders (obviously), Phoenix, Colony 7, Qix and Lunar Rescue.

Then, of course, there is also the mini-Megadrive, fuelled by the 16-bit pleasures of Sonic, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Flicky and Kid Chameleon.

The whole Radica Arcade Legends range will be launched this July, with the Space Invaders and Tetris versions retailing for £24.99, and the mini-Megadrive setting Segaphiles back £29.99.
